In honor of #HappyBirthDayJanetJackson, we will be compiling a list of our top five reasons why we love Janet Jackson! Of course, our love for the pop singer is not just bound to these five reasons. There are not hundreds, but thousands of reasons why Janet Jackson has ruled over our hearts for the past few years and will continue to do so for many years to come! These are OUR TOP 5 reasons why we dearly cherish and love Janet Jackson and after reading them, we’re sure that you will fall in love with her too!
1. Janet Jackson Is Not Ashamed About Her Self-Esteem Struggles
Janet Jackson has not been unknown to fame before she started gaining popularity in singing. Jackson worked as an actress on Good Times at the tender age of 10. In countless interviews, she had mentioned facing weight struggles, self-esteem issues, and major depression.
However, instead of hiding her past and putting a cover on all of her flaws, Jackson had used her story to uplift females who are going through similar situations. She used her story to inspire women to love themselves as they are instead of forcing themselves to be someone or something they’re not.
In a 2011 interview with the Today’s Show, Janet Jackson said, “I want to share with you stories from my own struggles,” while promoting her book “True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself.” Janet Jackson further added, “I’m an optimist. I know we can change. Problems, even the most severe ones, can be solved. We can be happy with who we are.”
In the self-help book True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself, Janet Jackson writes, “In complete darkness, we are all the same. It is only our knowledge and wisdom that separates us. Don’t let your eyes deceive you.”
It takes courage to go out into the world and tell your story, then have a million different people judge and criticize you for someone that you’re not. We respect Janet Jackson for writing this book and for inspiring a million different girls like her to embrace their perfect imperfections with pride and dignity.
2. Janet Jackson Is Equally Talented On-Screen
The pop star began her career at the age of 7 performing with her brothers and sisters in Las Vegas.
